So glad this venue gave their enthusiasm a boost! RoseMarie was just a perfect teacher for them to begin with but it was time to get the technique and theory. They'll thank you some day, I know they will. You are right about giving them the opportunity to play in front of lots of people and gain confidence that they can perform under pressure.
