Is January really almost over?

I'm not sure where this month has gone but I do know things have been hectic around our house.  The things I don't want to soon forget are these:
*  Kaleb had a nasty thing on his leg that started out looking like a spider bite.  It was red, swollen, feverish, and really tender to the touch.  After several Dr. appointments, 2 rounds of different antibiotic, and no change, we noticed it was spreading to his other leg.  Thankfully, the Dr. finally decided to do a blood test which indicated high levels of inflammation in his body.  They quickly sent him over to the Dermatologist where they decided to take a biopsy to determine what the weird thing was.  It broke my heart to have them do the procedure but he was such a tough little guy and barely even cried.  The Dr. mentioned the story of Joseph Smith's leg operation while he was working on Kaleb's leg which kept his attention.  What a sweet Dr!!!  They took a pretty good chunk of tissue from his leg and sent it off to the lab and 1 day later we had a name for the thing, Erythema Nodosum, which is an inflammation of the fatty tissue.  It can take up to 6 weeks to clear up and can be pretty painful but thanks to a little pain medication, he's doing pretty good.  The sore looks so much better than it did 2 weeks ago so we're crossing our fingers that it will completely go away and never come back.  He said the cutest thing as we were coming home from the appointment, "mom, you don't have to worry about me anymore, you can just worry about Jordyn."  He melts my heart sometimes!
This is after the biopsy was taken, strangely, it looked tons better after opening it up. I took pictures during the 2 weeks when it looked the worst but somehow deleted them.

Believe it or not, this looks amazing!

Here's Kaleb after a long day at the Doctor's office.  He was so darn tired!

*  Jordyn is getting her tonsils out on Friday.  We've put this surgery off for a year now so it's about time.  The Dr. is hopeful that by some small chance, her tonsils might be the cause of some of her stomach problems. Apparently, people with big tonsils swallow more air which can cause bloating and lots of stomach cramps.  I really don't think that is it, but, of course, it would be awesome if we could kill two birds with one stone.  Friday is bound to be an eventful day!

*  This weekend we have the opportunity of having Jeffery R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles attend our Stake Conference.  Regan has the opportunity to be a part of the Youth Choir for the Sunday meetings.  She's so excited about this awesome opportunity and is praying that she gets to shake his hand.:)  I'm just hoping that Jordyn is feeling well enough that I can attend the Adult session Saturday evening.  Time will tell.

*  My house is driving me crazy.  It needs to be organized.  I need to win a contest or something where someone will come in and show me how to get my life organized.  It's sad because I've always felt like I had a pretty good handle on things but lately, things just seem a bit disgruntled.  I guess I should just be grateful that the most important things are getting done, food in the little one's stomach's, laundry "done,"  appointments kept, and dishes done (thanks to my dear hubby)!!!  It needs to be recorded that he's always willing to pitch in and clean up dinner dishes and lately, he's been doing a few of the breakfast dishes before he heads out the door for work.  I love him.

*  It's been cold, snowy, overcast, and dreary lately. I don't mind winter but I've decided that I really need to see the sun, and, I really need for my kids to get some of their excess energy burned off outside.  I need to see a little grass and a little sunlight.

*  We attended New Beginnings with Regan last night.  I can't believe she's been in Y.W. for almost 5 months.  She's really grown up during this time but not in the ways I most dreaded. She's still sweet and helpful and still loves to hang out with her family but she's just maturing.  I love the Personal Progress program.

*  We made a trip to Logan to the dentist (my brother-in-law, Stanton), where Regan had the pleasure of getting 4 teeth pulled.  The orthodontist put in space maintainers in preparation of the big day.  Poor Reg's was pretty out of it the whole way home but luckily didn't experience too much pain, thanks to Stanton for taking such good care of her!

*  Before the dentist appointments, we got to spend a few hours at my sisters house.  The kids had a great time hanging out with their cousins.  Unforunetly, I took a total of 2 pictures.

Kamryn was trying to tickle cute little Cannon!

Doesn't he have the most squeezable cheeks?

*  Speaking of Regan, she got asked out on a date to the movies the other day.  C'mon people, she's 12 years old.  What is this world coming to????

*  Morgan played her first game of indoor soccer last Saturday.  She played goalie some of the time and did a really great job.  She caught a ball that was coming at her hard and fast and stopped a number of other balls.  They ended up losing pretty bad which was a little tough on her. She takes things really personal and is hard on herself when it comes to soccer so this season will be humbling because they are up against some hard teams.  I'm just hoping that she'll have a lot of fun because she loves soccer!

*  I had an epiphany yesterday.  I think I've unintentionally spoiled the twins.  I really have tried hard to not spoil any of my kids but I think I've faltered with these two little hooligans.  I really thought I was doing a pretty good job of managing things but after a "situation" right during family home evening occurred, I decided that they really have been ruling our household.  It's so easy to tell my other kids that their needs can wait while I take care of all the little tantrums because the kids WILL wait (well, most of the time).  As for the mentioned "situation,"  the babies were running around, screaming, teasing, fighting, laughing, basically spoiling any amount of reverence that was there.  I finally decided to escort them to their room where I explained to them that their behavior was not working for me and that if they would like to join us for the rest of family home evening, they would both have to quiet down, clean up all of the mess they made, and sit quietly until the end.  Surprisingly, they both quit screaming, went out to start cleaning up and remained quiet for the rest of the time (which was only approximately 5 minutes) but hey, you've got to hand it to them.  Kamryn almost always wakes up crying and grumpy for naps and in the morning.  She drives everyone nuts with her loud crying and complaining so today before naps, I told her that she needed to come out of her room happy after naps and guess what, she did, she had a relapse 5 minutes later but again, I'll take what I can get.
                                                         Looks can be deceiving?
*  Even though I make it sound like I'm raising 2 little wild and untamed children, they really do some adorable things and have a lot of adorable moments.  Here is one:
Kamryn was wearing her absolute favorite pink princess shoes while she was jumping and she completely cracked one in half.  She was devisated, but Porter was even more devistated.  He insisted on getting her some new shoes and was overjoyed in Fred Meyer when we found a pair that looked exactly like the broken ones.  He didn't cry for a toy for himself, he just kept saying, "Kami got new shoes."  It really tickled me!
*  Porter has a really tough time falling asleep at night.  He opens the door over and over and then finally decides to give up after a while and we'll often find him sound asleep right in front of the door. The other night he didn't make any attempts to come out so I went in to check things out and he'd fallen asleep on the end of Kami's bed.  Kami currently sleeps on a mattress on the floor while we figure out new sleeping arrangements in the household.  I'm happy to be "crib free."
*  We got some really sad news Monday night. Clay Anderson who is a brother to our sweet sister-in-law Jan, who passed away from cancer 15 years ago, passed away after suffering a massive heart attack.  He was only 55 years old and leaves behind a sweet wife, 5 children and 2 grandchildren.  Our hearts are breaking for his parents, Roland and MaryJune, who have now lost 2 of their children.  I can't imagine how hard this is on them, but I can't help but think about the reunion between Jan and Clay after being apart for so many years.  I'm grateful for the knowledge I have of a life here after but it certainly doesn't take away the pain that comes from losing loved ones, it just makes it so we can get through these hard times knowing that we'll see our loved ones again very soon.

Awesome update, you're incredible. I don't know how you do everything that you do! You're such a great mom and wife. You're my hero, or at least an inspiration!

I cannot keep up with all the things you guys do. Poor Kaleb, his leg looks awful, and what a bizarre thing to happen. does the dr. say how he got this illness? And tell Morgan that her super competitiveness is totally normal for a Teichert. Come up and play monopoly with us sometime and you'll see!
Kids just want to get away with everything they can, and my 2 year old is thinking he's the boss of the world right now. (and my 5 year old, and my 3 month old) It's hard to set them straight and KEEP them straight, but I have a feeling you are the best mom. Actually, Seth met your neighbor (last name starts with a L? and he was in the old stake pres. and sold us an engine hoist) He says you are so perfect you need to be translated ASAP, and that Reagyn is going with you straight to heaven. We totally agreee!

Cindy, yes January is almost over - and my comment is.... it's about time!!!! Loved reading your post, you amaze me!!! Keep up the good work, won't belong and you will blink and they will start walking out the door and you will look back and all the bad times will fade and only the good memories will be there. Funny, when you said how you had tried not to spoid the twins. Yea I tried with Whit to, but pretty much she runs the show around here and she is a senior. But oh how lucky we are to have her. LOve ya!!!

I need to call you. So much to talk about from this post.

Mostly this: My almost 7 year old, my 5 year old, my 4 year old, and my 2 year old ALL still act exactly like the babies you're describing. :)

Also,

Holy Cow, they really did take a big chunk out of Kaleb's leg. Glad it's doing better.

How I enjoyed your update. I hadn't checked for a few days. It's funny how I know all of these things but to read them as written from your heart really touches me. And you are an absolutely wonderful Mom! Regarding Kami and Porter, it is easy to forget how much they understand and are capable of doing at their tender age. I've decided that we ALL really do appreciate boundaries! Hope Jordy, Kaleb, and Porter have improved since day-before-yesterday! Call me when you have a minute! I want to hear about Regan and the choir and Elder Holland.
