American History Program Videos

These are just little clips of a few of the songs from the program. The duet plays twice, once for the day program and once for the evening performance. Kamryn helped me video the night performance (hence the dizzy video and extra background noise)

American History Program

The two 5th grade classes at Fairview put on a really neat American History program last Thursday. They have been working on the music for at least 3 months and evidently the kids were in charge of the scenery, props, choreography, and costumes with a little help from the teachers. I was so impressed with the whole thing especially the fact that all the kids seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves. Regan got to perform a duet with another girl in her class and then participated in the choir. She was thrilled about her pretty dress that we borrowed from one of my friends!
The kids were so excited about the program (you would've thought it was Broadway!) It was so cute to see them having so much fun; I couldn't take pictures fast enough!

Regan and Courtney (the girl that sang the duet with Regan) Don't they look grown up? It scares me quite frankly!! Regan had in mind what she wanted done with her hair so I did my best to follow directions. She seemed happy about it. The song was so pretty...I'm proud of you, Regan!

What would we do without supportive Grandma's. We're lucky to live so close to Grandma Rose and Great Grandma Johnson.

Pooped!

I always feel bad when I run my kids ragged and yesterday I guess I did it to Kaleb! He missed his much needed nap and as a result, he couldn't even stay awake for dinner to be served.... poor little guy. The worst part is that I had to pick him up to carry him to the van for Regan's soccer practice so his peaceful slumber was disturbed but, thankfully, before long he was sawing logs in his car seat again. Today I vow to do better with the nap schedule.

A little bit of everything

We've been a little busy lately with all the end of school projects & programs plus soccer, piano, and everything else in between so I needed to unload my camera of a bunch of random pictures from the past week.

I can't resist bathtub pictures for some reason and two babies in the bath is even more fun!

The babies begging the kids for bites of ice cream!
Saturday we went to the greenbelt to feed the ducks. The kids still love to do this year after year and I don't mind it myself.

Thanks to mother nature, we spent the better part of Saturday outside in the yard playing with the kids enjoying the gorgeous sunshine (and no wind). DJ and Regan spent Friday night and Saturday morning participating in the community wide clean up project. Regan worked her tail end off helping DJ clean up yards, cutting down trees, etc. They went to one house where they picked up 3 huge bags of beer cans. The guy told Regan she could take them down to the recycling place to cash them in. She ended up making almost $16.00 so she was pretty excited. Anyway, I think Regan enjoyed being with her dad even if it involved hard work. When they got home we hung out in the back yard and played with the kids. Kamryn was happily cruising everywhere, even the prickly grass didn't seem to stop her. Porter, on the other hand, wasn't quite sure what to do. He spent most of the time cuddling up with his blanky. It makes me laugh because when we're inside, Porter is the one getting in to all the cupboards and making mischief while Kamryn is just happy to walk around and occasionally play with a toy. The kids LOVE that Kamryn can walk so now they think she's capable of doing just about anything. They love to take her for walks around the house and yard and Morgan just knew she'd love a ride on the slide!

Yesterday was "Rocket Day" at Fairview school. The 4th, 5th, & 6th graders get to build and paint their own rockets and then they shoot invite the parents to come and watch them shoot them off. Regan's turned out really cute and girly---purple with yellow speckles all over.

To be a kid again!

Jordyn is determined to learn how to jump rope so she was practicing at my mom and dads on Mother's Day. I'm so proud of myself for capturing this picture in just the right moment. Can't you just see the joy in her face??

Jordyn's funnies

I have to record this for Jordyn's history even though it happened a couple of weeks ago. When Jordyn and Kaleb were on their way to Cokeville to spend the week with DJ's parents, Grandpa Teichert apparently was driving a little crazy so Grandma was giving him a hard time. Jordyn looked at Grandma and says, "Actually Grandma, I think he's doing quite marvelous, for a man his age, he should be dead." I guess Grandma just about died laughing and Grandpa's a little hard of hearing, so he didn't even hear her. (maybe that's for the best). Kids say the darndest things, especially Jordyn!

Morgan's "Bugz" Play

Last Wednesday the 1st graders put on the play, "Bugz." and talk about adorable! They have been practicing for a few months now and had the songs and parts down just perfect and the costumes were so adorable. A friend of mine from the ward made Morgan's mosquito costume (minus the bug eyes) and it turned out adorable. We thought it would be so funny to add some bug eyes to Morg's costume so DJ drilled holes in a coconut bra from Hawaii and they made the costume. I'm not sure how well she could actually see because her teacher tied them on upside down but she claims she could see just fine. I prayed the whole time she wouldn't fall off the risers since she was, of course, on the outside. Anyway, the play was so adorable and the kids had their parts down just perfect. Also, to go along with the play, they got to choose what bug they wanted to be and then they had to research that particular bug and then write a report. Morgan took this very serious and spent a couple of hours on the Internet researching mosquito's and then cutting and pasting the information she wanted to keep. I was proud of her for taking it so serious but just had to giggle a bit at how intense she was about it. Anyway, I'm so impressed with the teachers and their patience in putting something like this together. Thanks to Grandma Rose and Great Grandma Johnson for coming to support her. She was thrilled to have you both there.

A week with Grandma & Grandpa Teichert

I've been meaning to write about Jordyn and Kaleb's week with Grandma and Grandpa Teichert in Cokeville and just haven't gotten it done. Plus, I'm hoping to get some pictures from Grandma of all the fun they had. First of all, I have to say how sweet it was of DJ's parents to have those two little stinkers for so long. I'm still in shock that I actually agreed to let them be away that long. For those of you who know me well, you will understand. I really don't love being away from my kids, never have, probably never will, but I will admit that the first few days were kind of nice because I didn't have all the little messes to clean up and I got a tremendous amount of deep cleaning done but I did miss their cute little voices and even found myself missing making lunch for them. That being said, I think it was really nice for Regan and Morgan to have some uninterrupted play time together. They really are good friends and have very few fights when Jordyn isn't around. The old saying, "three's a crowd" is definetly true around our house. When one girl is left out, the other two are accused of "buddying up." So..... I did not miss that familiar scenario at all but I was definetly ready by the end of a week to have our whole family back together again. I think Jordyn was ready to come home mainly because she missed Morgan and was dying to give her the B-Day present she bought for her. On the other hand, Kaleb was excited to see us but quickly let us know he is "weewy" (really) missing his Grandma T. Everytime he gets in trouble he asks when he can go see Grandma again. Hmmmm.. What would we do without Grandma's?? Anyway, some highlights from their trip according to Jordyn & Kaleb are as follows:
1. wrestling with Uncle Johnny (Kaleb) Oh, Kaleb said this shortly after he arrived home, "Uncle Johnny is my best friend"
2. snuggling with Uncle Johnny (Jordyn)
3. eating all of Grandma's yummy food, especially the watermelon. (Jordyn keeps asking me why we don't have watermelon and grandma does)
4. eating ice cream
5. playing with Tanna, Janae, and Leonna
6. seeing the cows in the barnyard
7. hanging out with Grandma & Grandpa ("We LOVE Grandma's house, mom, especially Patty's clavinova")
8. Spending the whole day with Alley (their cousin)
9. helping grandma in her yard
10. playing hula hoop
The list could go on but as you can tell, a fun time was had by both kids. I'm glad they got to spend some time with Grandma & Grandpa T. I'm hoping for some pictures to go along with this from Mom T. (hint hint) Thanks again, mom and dad, for showing the kids a great time. We love you!
My mom was kind enough to meet John and Dorothy in Lava to pick the kids up so I anxiously awaited their arrival at home. About 5 minutes before they got home I had a feeling I better quickly make up a "homecoming" poster and some balloons because apparently Jordyn kept telling Grandma T. she was excited about her homecoming party we would all throw for her. (I'm sure she got that idea because of DJ's big party after coming home from Arizona). Anyway, I hurried to scribble out a poster and dug some balloons out of the cupboard and had them taped up just in time for mom to round the corner with the kids. (close call)

Just plain cute!

Soccer's in full swing

Morgan (#5) She's having a really great season and really enjoying herself this time around. She actually tells me she doesn't want to sit out EVER as opposed to last season where she'd beg to sit out every quarter.

Regan (#4) She's having a fun season as well. They have a good little team that really knows the meaning of "team work"! She is super fast and has made some beautiful assists.
