Beware, brag zone!

Every parent has to brag about their kids occasionally (I think) so please don't read on if that kind of thing drives you nuts. I figure that I'm usually the first to call my kids on their faults so I ought to be the first to give them credit where credit is due. So..... we had Parent Teacher Conferences last week as well as the Academic Fair. The kids were so excited to participate in the fair and w/out any nudging and poking from me, they came up with the cutest posters that tell a lot about their character. The theme was "Creating Confidence" so Morgan centered her poster around things that help her to have confidence like skiing, playing the piano, playing soccer, doing flips on the trampoline and my favorite, planting a flower....because as she said, "you have to have confidence and faith that when you put the seed in the ground it will actually do something." She loves to draw and spent quite a few hours working things out on scratch paper so the finished product would be perfect. Soooo cute!! Regan did something similar but used photos of each family member doing things that help to build confidence. This is so much like Regan because she doesn't want anyone to be left out, everything has to be fair, etc. etc... anyway, she has a picture of Kamryn and Porter learning to crawl which takes confidence, her tubing down the hill, us skiing together, Kaleb learning to ride his new bike, Morgan playing the piano, Jordyn attending Kindergarten Roundup. Her poster was decorated so cute and she spent hours putting a lot of detail on the poster. It's funny how projects like this bring out their personalities.

Okay, on to Parent Teacher Conferences- Regan is doing excellent in school! She recieved all A's and 1 B+ in math and all Excellents in the behavior, participation, etc. areas. She lacks in her confidence which is tough to watch as a parent but hopefully she'll discover soon just how smart she is. Her teachers rave about how fun she is to have in class and how obedient and polite she is. She just needs to realize that as long as she does her best, that's what counts. Dad and I are so proud of you Regan and know that great things are in store for you if you just believe in yourself and put your trust in Heavenly Father.
On to Morgan- She is also doing excellent in school! She recieved all Excellents on her report card and her teacher says how much she loves having her in class. Most things having to do with school work come very easy to Morgan so therefore, she has a tendency to get bored. Her teacher has been amazing and sends home 2nd and 3rd grade homework sheets each night to challenge her. It's made all the difference in Morgan's attitude about school! She loves a challenge (when she's in the mood) so DJ challenged her to learn her multiplication tables which she's just about finished with. Anyway, her teacher says how Morgan loves to help the other kids and is really sweet and patient with them. Dad and I are super proud of you, Morgan! Keep up
the good work and you will accomplish great things.

Cousin's ski trip

A couple of weeks ago DJ took Regan and Morgan to Pomerelle Ski Resort and spent a fun day skiing with Brad, Kate, and Todd! They had a ball skiing with their cousins and their dad's reported that they all are getting to be quite the little ski bums. The girls have only been able to go about 2 times every year but I'm amazed at how quickly they pick it back up. Anyway, thanks to Brad and DJ for taking time out of busy schedules to have some fun with the kids....they loved it!

The many faces of Morgan

It's next to impossible to get a serious picture of Morg's. She's such a nut and always pulling some funny face so this is my latest attempt. She was seriously just about wetting her pants and had me doing the same after a few shots. Enjoy!

pic #1 (okay, I can do this) pic #2 (I'm TRYING) pic #3 (never mind, I can't)

pic #4 (mom, I'm going to wet my pants) pic #5 (okay, I'm ready....big sigh)

Personality plus! I love you Morgan, you are beautiful inside and out and I think you are pretty amazing!

The joys of teething

Poor little man, need I say more?

He's cutting two bottom teeth and is just plain miserable! Can't wait until my happy little man returns but until then, I'll smother him in loves and kisses!

Pretty Girl!

Regan is one happy girl; she got her first "official" babysitting job on Thursday night. She, of course, has baby sat for us plenty of times and watched the neighbor kids while they were sleeping, but, this was different. She watched 3 kids under the ages of 5 for 2 hours. Her end of the phone conversation the day she was asked went something like this: "me, are you serious, Really?? I would LOVE to!! That sounds great!! Can you just hear her? It was so cute! She really needed a self esteem boost and I think this did it. She got along just great and was able to earn some money, although, I don't even think the money had anything to do with the excitement......I'll savor that while it lasts. She is a great kid, super responsible for a 10 year old and growing up way too fast for my liking! BUT, I'm pretty sure she'll never out grow the great hugs she so freely gives. I love you, Regan....don't ever forget it!

Tender mercies

I needed one! I fell asleep mid-sentence while reading to Jordy, she quietly snuck away to draw and let me take a much needed 10 minute power nap while babies and Kaleb napped. I woke up to the sweet sound of baby chatter....Porter and Kamryn carrying on their own conversation in their bedroom, went in to find them both standing up in their cribs giggling at one another. (both with stinky diapers) Just made me smile!
