What will he think of next?

I'll never look at a dump truck the same after a little experience we had with Porter Monday night.  We were carving away at our pumpkins for family night when out of the corner of my eye I see Porter with his pants completely off squatting on his toy dump truck.  He had "the look" on his face so I knew exactly what is intentions were, I just hoped I wasn't too late.  He had a sheepish grin on his face while saying,  "I poop in my dump truck!"  WHAT!!  I didn't know whether to laugh or cry or barf!  DJ found the whole thing hilarious and couldn't stop chuckling the whole night.  He jokingly said, "wow, Porter is one smart kid, he's figured out that it's a "dump truck" and that's exactly what's he's using it for.  What a proud father he is!! :)  Though I think it's pretty funny myself, I can't help but think about what could have happened and it would've been a shame to throw such a nice big dump truck away--so, I'm keeping an extra close eye on the little "dump truck" man hoping that he doesn't get another wild idea.  Hmmmm...little boys. 

Sisters+mom get-away in Park City!

Don't have much time right now but want to tell my mom and sisters thanks for such an awesome weekend in Park City!   I loved the shopping and the food but what I loved most was hanging out with all of you!  Can't possibly tell you guys how much I love you!  I'll post more pictures and stuff later when I have a second!

The girls in their skirts

I'm dying to make more of these skirts on my own--just to prove to myself that I can do it w/out any help.  Thanks again to my awesome sister for walking me through step-by-step on 5 skirts (2 for Kami).  The best is seeing how much the girls love these skirts and I especially love that Regan was still willing to match with her sisters.  (I wonder how much longer I can get away with it)  I guess I better hurry up and sew!!

I am on the hunt for some cute plain shirts that I can applique some of this cute skirt material to.  I think it would be so cute along with the skirts and hair bows.

We're "diaper free"

They did it!!  I can't believe it!  I kind of hate to admit this, but since the day the babies were born, I dreaded the days of potty training them.  I hate potty training that much and the thought of training 2 just scared the heck out of me.  But, these guys must have been ready because it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be and maybe the fact that they cheered one another on during the process, made it a little easier.  We spent the day in Salt Lake on Saturday for our nieces wedding and I was so nervous about being away from their little potty chair but they willingly went in any bathroom along the way.  After a long day in Salt Lake, Kami noticed that Porter wasn't wearing a diaper to bed the so she decided she better do the same, so after 10 hours of sleeping, they both woke up dry!!  I seriously wanted to cry.....it's a stinking miracle!!  I never thought I could be so happy over something so seemingly small, but I am!  I must confess to a few things:
1)  I bribed them the whole way along with  Dum Dum suckers
2)  I bribed them the whole way along with Gummy Bears
3)  I probably caused them both to have life long dental issues
4)  I enlisted Kaleb's help by naming him my "potty training helper"  (something fun about big brother helping out)
5)  also bribed him with suckers and gummy bears which he was happy about
4)  I don't have any guilt over any the above
5)  because it worked....

Sister's Crafty Day (part 2)

Not only did we have fun crafting together but we had fun watching all of our kids play so well together.  They are such cute kids and totally entertain one another.  Some of my favorite things were watching Kaleb and Jack watch Todd play on his I-touch, I think they even got a few turns on it.  I loved seeing the little girls draw together, and I loved watching the babies interact.  I call them babies, but they are all "2"!  I also loved listening to Morgan and Kate on the piano.  Morgan would play a song while Kate sang along.  It was priceless!

If it weren't for poop...

 ....we'd have it made!  They've mastered the potty thing, in fact, I rarely have to remind them.  This morning Kaleb and Porter were playing outside and Porter came in saying, "wait buddy, I go potty."  That's music to my ears.  If only the poopy thing would be this easy.  Yesterday they had no potty accidents and several poopy accidents--yep, right in their new princess panties and cool truck undies!  Oh well, today's a new day so we'll see what happens!  Oh, the coolest thing that happened was Porter calling for me at 2 a.m. from his crib, "Potty, mommy, potty."  He refused to wear a diaper to bed so he wore his undies and did amazing!  Kami might take a little longer for the night training thing.

Sister's Crafty Day- Part 1!

My sisters came up for a fun 2 days of crafting and sewing this past Thursday and Friday.  My sister, Lori, has been making the cutest skirts for her little girl so I was dying to have her teach me.  Thank goodness for 2 days off of school due to a statewide teacher training that made this possible!  My mom was sweet enough to come and join us mainly to entertain kids and help feed the crew (all 13 of them).  It just wouldn't be the same without Grandma!  We had a ball to say the least!!  I love hanging out with my sisters and I must say we don't do it near as much as I'd like.  In two days we managed to accomplish the following:  (I say "we" but actually, Lori was the brains behind the operation...she's seriously amazing!  Actually, Julie is totally crafty and does quite a bit of sewing but she'd never made the skirts before so we learned together!  I did not get the crafty gene but I started to catch on after a while and I totally enjoyed watching my girls get in to the action.  Regan is not afraid of the sewing machine at all and caught right on.  Morgan loved to hold the pedal down for me while I did the sewing.  Thanks to Lor for all of your help!!! Here is what we accomplished:

7 darling skirts
20+ hair bows of different kinds
1 table runner
a few belts for the girls

We laughed, we ate, we sewed, we glued, and we unpicked (occasionally) and laughed some more.  It was a perfect two days. The older girls even joined in the sewing fun from time to time and the other kids were content to play with each other.
